P90X update

So I have not uploaded a blog for a while and I have received several e-mails to make sure I'm still live.... I can assure you that I am still alive and going well with the P-90-X program.

Today was a back and biceps workout and yesterday was plyometrics. Plyometrics is very very difficult and not for the fainthearted. If you think your fitness is up to it definitely give plyometrics a try. Today I can only do 40 minutes of the plyometrics workout because I was totally fatigued.

I wanted to point out a great invaluable resource that I have been looking at the last few months and that website is www.marksdailyapple.com. Mark Sisson is the blogger on the site and has some absolutely fantastic information on recipes, workouts and general information on health and fitness. Mark has a new book being released on May 26 called the primal blueprint which he has been working on for quite sometime. If you go to www.primalblueprint.com you can get more information about his upcoming book on how to burn fat while gaining health and vitality.

I think my exercise is fairly good but where I struggle is the diet and this area is really where I need to focus all my efforts. Is it just as simple as eating lean meats, nuts, seeds and essential fats? If this is the case then why are so many in the world obese? The facts behind Marks new book are that westernised countries consume too many carbohydrates in excess. Carbohydrates combined with a high fat diet are a recipe for heart disease.

Also on a side note I thought I would mention that I finally received my new car....... I am thoroughly enjoying it......

see you guys soon

Back from Holidays

Hi everyone,

Ok so I got back from holidays after a 6 day fitness and exercise free time in Queensland visiting my family.

Basically the holidays consisted of a bit of camping, eating and taking in a football game.

I have returned today 27th of April and have already completed a shoulders and arms P90X workout. Having six days off you can tell the difference in the strength department.

I am also starting my primal/paleo eating plan by lowering carbs because I have noticed that I am starting to gain a little fat since consuming more carbohydrates.

A new week and a new outlook........ lets do it!!!

USA TRIP 2009 - PLANS

Hi everyone,

I am planning another trip to the USA in 2009 and I'm tossing up between a few options of what I would like to do and in what time frames.

Below is option one and option two on the travel plans I plan to conduct in September/October 2009. I am really hoping and I will be also posting a video on YouTube about a possible large meet up in Los Angeles California sometime in September/October which I think would be fantastic if we got a huge bunch of people that have contributed to YouTube over the last few years.

I know I am already meeting up with a bunch of people that I met on my last trip to the USA in 2008.

==============================
option one

1. Jason flies to Los Angeles
2. Jason flies straight to Dallas to spend some time with Russ maybe three or four days
3. Jason flies from Dallas to Vancouver Canada to meet with Brad
4. Jason and Brad spent five days in Vancouver Canada (negotiable on how many days)
5. Rent(hire) a car and head for Seattle
6. 2-3 days in Seattle(negotiable)
7. head for San Francisco - check out Oakland + Sacramento maybe depending on time
8. 4 Days San Francisco
9. check out San Jose / Santa Cruz (Julia from Youtube lives in Santa Cruz possible meet up)
10. head down the ocean Road for Los Angeles obviously stopping at hotels if we need to depending on how long the Road trip is
11. Five days in Los Angeles ( negotiable )
12. head for San Diego 1-2 days
13. Tijuana if we have time and is safe - 3 days

So what do you think of this trip?? I always said to myself I wanted to go to Vancouver San Francisco and Tijuana. Many years ago before I traveled I wanted to do a massive road trip from Vancouver Canada all the way down the western coast of the USA.......... so instead of trying to get halfway across the country like we did last time going to the cruise we can spend 3-4 weeks traveling down the western coast of the US.

The reason I am hitting up Dallas is because Brad only has three weeks vacation time off work and I'm planning on coming for 4 weeks... so this will kill two birds with one stone.

==============================
Option 2

1. Sydney to Los Angeles
2. Los Angeles to Dallas
3. Meet up with Brad and head for Colorado
4. Four days in Colorado
5. Head to Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming
6. Wyoming to Albuquerque New Mexico (brads house)
7. Albuquerque New Mexico Road trip / or fly to Miami Florida
8. 3 days in Miami
9. Board the cruise ship for the seven-day champions for life cruise to the Bahamas
10. fly back to Los Angeles
11. fly back home to sydney

When we get to brads house we would be doing certain things and seeing sites in the New Mexico area. Obviously also there would be a lot more planning in the option two route depending on if we drove to Florida or we took south-west airlines to Miami Florida.

So what option would you guys take? I really looking forward to another trip to meet up with all the body for life people or the people from YouTube and me heaps of new people on this new trip.....

I look forward to everybody's input.........

My car is gone

Hi everyone,

Yesterday I crashed my car and rolled it at 110 km/h = 70mph. I rolled the car six times whilst travelling down the freeway. Needless to say I am not very happy at the moment and I'm lucky to be alive. Travelling that fast and losing control of the vehicle is definitely not what you want to happen.

I have the rest of the week off and I have to organise a new car once the insurance goes through and they pay out on the claim.

Things have been going okay with the P90X program but I have missed the last two days since the accident. I will be starting up again tomorrow April 2, 2009.

Thanks to everybody that came and saw me and has provided very nice comments about my well-being.

My saviour!!!! Healthy food preparation

I went to my friend's house yesterday and we filmed a video about why people are getting fatter and fatter and fatter yet in today's society we have the healthiest options that have ever existed on the face of the planet.

What is it and why is it that people cannot achieve their goals both short-term and long-term when the options at our local grocery store are endless. Or is that where the problem lies?

Our supermarkets and grocery stores are bombarded with so many unhealthy options it's unbelievable and the shit food that the government allows these companies to sell is absolutely astronomical. With all the added artificial sweeteners, thickeners, acids, emulsifiers and all the other crap they put in food to either preserve it and give it a longer shelflife is obsurd.

The picture above is a tip that my friend gave me yesterday which is a plastic container which you can see has three compartments. It has an area for either salad or vegetables which should be half of the container. The other half of the container is made into quarters which is great for a portion of protein and a portion of carbohydrates. In the centre of the plastic container is a small little mini container which holds some type of salad dressing of your choice. The small salad dressing container slots straight into the middle of the plastic ware then all you do when you get to work is take off the lid and pour your salad dressing over your salad and you're away.

To me, this is a well thought out invention and I'm upset I've never seen it before. Every portion is basically set out for you and all you have to do is add the ingredients and you can eat healthy day in and day out without any trouble or wondering what your portion sizes are.

I don't know where you would get these but I purchased from a local IGA grocery store here in Sydney Australia.

Remember, if you don't plan, you plan to fail.

Day 3 - $100 challenge

Today was a very difficult day, I just put a deposit down on a three-year-old car worth $20,000 and things have been stressful on trying to get all the Finance and leasing organised.

Today I was not prepared with my meals except for the myoplex which I had in the morning for breakfast. I then had 2 cans of tuna for a mid-morning snack, then for lunch I had a skinless chicken breast wholewheat brown bread subway which I guess wasn't too bad. For dinner I went to my local fish and chip shop and purchased a mixed seafood grill for one. The mixed seafood grill contains fries and an assortment of seafood from the grill, such as mussels, prawns and baby squid. The grilled seafood is obviously a great addition thebecause it is grilled but I definitely went overboard with the fries. Now that I look back at foods I ate today I Think it was a decent day eating wise. I had a mix of carbohydrates and also a mix of protein meals, I don't normally like to eat any carbohydrates after lunchtime as my body is definitely not made to take too many carbohydrates because I get bloated and feel like shit.

That would make me 4 meals for the day which I'm not really happy with, I am trying get around 5 to 6 meals per day with most of my meals coming from cans of tuna, salmon and prepackaged frozen vegetables which I add to a lean protein source. This gives me the energy I need to do all my workouts which ensures slow steady success towards achieving good results in the six-month challenge.

I hope everyone is doing well this challenge I look forward to seeing everyone's results over the coming months and I also look forward to my little side bet challenge with Brad Hines.

I will talk to everyone soon

Brad Hines challenges me!

I received an e-mail yesterday from Brad requesting that we start over on March 10, 2009 for a small 12 week challenge with only two people, myself and Brad.

Basically the original challenge was that if Brad beat me I would pay for him to get the tattoo that he has always wanted. If I beat him, then Brad would have to pay to get my professional photos taken. We would be assuming around $300-$400 would be the appropriate figure.

I have accepted Brad's proposal to restart the challenge as of Monday 10th of March 2009.

Brad had better be dedicated because this time there is going to be no excuses, I am not going to falter on this challenge and I repeat I am going to be collecting the money that I am owed if I were to win the challenge. There is going to be none of this well everybody has dropped out mentality and everyone gets their money back. This will not be happening on this challenge, there is no point doing challenge after challenge after challenge if nobody is actually getting the results they desire. Maybe it's time people actually lost their money because they either didn't complete the challenge nor did they achieve any significant result in the challenge.

I look forward to achieving some great results because I know Brad will be a formidable opponent since he has achieved great success so far.

The day has come!!!!

Tomorrow is day one of the $100 six-month body transformation challenge and I for one am raring to go.

We have currently around 10 people in the challenge which will result in second place taking $200 and the winner taking the remainder of the winnings from all the people that entered the contest.

This week I have been quite tired but I think it's because I have stayed up late several times chatting to friends online and also chatting to people on the phone.

This week has not been a good week eating wise because I have just moved into a new house and have not been able to prepare my meals. This is just an excuse, I am making it my mission in the next six months to prepare my meals on a Sunday afternoon ready to consume for lunch or dinner during the week. There is no excuse why in the afternoon on Sunday you do not prepare your meals for the week, this will help you stay on track and not get caught up in the fast food domain that would definitely ruin your success.

Today is Sunday, March 8, 2009 and I went down to my local grocery shop and purchased all the food that I will need for the week. Below is a general list of what I purchased today that is convenient, healthy and downright easy to prepare, which I think is key to success in losing weight. If it's too hard people won't stick to it and inevitably cheat and not get the results that their after.

1. eggs two cartons
2. whole chickens X 2
3. low-fat yoghurtsX 12
4. 3 bags steamed vegetables (there is three small bags in each larger bag which is great for easy meals)
5. 1 bag of mixed salad
6. 10 cans of tuna(different flavours)
7. 100 g of thinly sliced smoked salmon (Yum)
8. 1 tub cottage cheese
9. tomatoes
10. roasted capsicum dip

So there we have a bit of a rundown of what I'm purchasing when I go to the grocery store. Tonight I plan on cooking one of the chickens in the oven and then cutting that chicken into quarters. I will place a quarter of each chicken into an air sealed container and then place one of the bags of steamed vegetables in with it. All I have to do is go to work place the container in the microwave for around 2 to 3 minutes and then sit down and enjoy your meal, how easy is that? That would be a portion of protein and also a portion of fibrous carbs in the steamed vegetables.

I hope in this challenge that my main goal is going to be body fat reduction, I am really looking at stripping down the body fat. The muscle I have has been well earned but really is there any point if I'm carrying an extra 20lbs of body fat?

I wish everyone or the very much success with this challenge and I know once I get P90X that it is going to be game on!!!!!!!

The picture above is a picture of me and Bill Phillips, author of the body for life program. I met Bill Phillips on the champions the life cruise in July of 2008 with other guys that I had met on YouTube. It was certainly a fantastic cruise.

Good luck to everyone

P90X workouts

Okay so I have been doing a little research on the P90X workouts and what they can offer in regards to body fat reduction and strength increases to get that ripped physique I've always been after.

I have been checking out a lot of guys videos that have been posting P90X workouts and some of these guys have achieved fantastic results in as little as only 90 days. Some of the transformations that I have seen are absolutely astounding totally ripped in 90 days.

Okay so can P90x work for me? This $100 challenge that I am embarking on is going to be the biggest challenge of my life I really want to achieve all the goals that I want to achieve before I hit the age of 30 which is in two years time. I want to be able to look back and say I was ripped and had abdominals for the first time in my life. Some people will live out their lives never have seen their abdominals under the layer of belly fat, this for me is unacceptable and I need and will achieve my goals by that date.

Below I am going to post a few links to videos that show PP0X progress and how far people have taken their fitness, and it seems like a whole new level.

Will this work for me? Only time will tell!

My Power Rack

I thought I would also post a picture of my home gym which I have owned for over two years now. The power rack system is by a company called powertec fitness which is a US-based company.

The features of the power rack and what I have are listed below,

1. Power rack cage with additional Lat pull down option
2. Olympic bar
3. adjustable bench
4. 115 kg worth of free weights
5. Hexagon trap bar for dead lifts
6. there are additional handles and bar attachments etc

I've been very impressed with the quality and construction of the powertec fitness equipment it has a name in the industry that has been well made and has definitely stood up to the test of time. I'm positive I should be able to get at least the next 15 years out of this equipment.

If you are thinking about buying a home gym definitely take a look at the powertec fitness gear you won't be disappointed and with the amounts that fitness centres are charging these days I'm sure the investment will pay itself off within at least 2 - 3 years.

Anybody who thinks that training in a home gym can't get results is absolutely kidding themselves the exercises that we should be doing are compound lifts such as squats, dead lifts, shoulder press, push-ups, chin-ups and any other exercise that utilizes more than one muscle group to achieve maximum thickness of muscle. Most of the time when people go to the gym they only use the weight machines and we all know that you definitely not going to get to your fitness goals by using machines in your fitness and weightlifting routine.

Say in closing if you thing about getting home gym don't delay get one today!!!!!!!!!!

$100 six-month transformation challenge - Day 1

hi everyone,

This is my first blog on the Aussie fitness dude blog and I thought what better way to get started than to post my day one eating plan of the $100 six-month transformation challenge.

Today I had the day off from work because I was unfortunately not feeling that well and went to bed very late last night and had trouble getting up this morning.

This morning I started out with a chocolate Microplex original shake crushed with some ice in the blender. While we're on the topic of protein powders I have often purchased large amounts of protein powders and never finished them because after several weeks or a few months the taste just becomes unbearable. The Microplex original shakes are fantastic because they offer great nutrition but mainly they are the best tasting protein shakes around, bar none.

With my workout today I do the 5X5 strong lifts program which is a heavy compound lifting exercise routine which concentrates on large muscle groups such as chest, back and legs while monitoring your progress in a hardcover fitness diary journal. I have noticed especially in the overhead press that my maximum lifts are going up dramatically. If you want more information on the 5X5 strong lifts program go to www.stronglifts.com on that site there is a wealth of information and even a forum to help you get started on what you should be doing and how to monitor your progress.

That's all I will post up today for my first blog and I'm looking at starting this new six-month challenge with vigour and a passion for losing body fat as I am already fairly happy with the amount of muscle that I have my body at this stage. For me on this challenge is purely trying to decrease my body fat so I can see the muscles that I've worked hard to gain over the last three years.

Yours in fitness

Jason
